Professional Standards Statement
Measurement-Driven. Independent. Precaution-Oriented.
EMFGEO provides electromagnetic field (EMF) assessment and mitigation guidance under a formal Standards of Practice designed to promote consistency, technical rigor, and professional accountability. Our work is grounded in measurement, informed by building science principles, and guided by a conservative approach to environmental evaluation.
For service terms, disclaimers, and legal conditions governing our work, see our Terms of Service page.
Measurement Comes First
Every recommendation we make begins with site-specific data. We perform structured field measurements to identify electromagnetic sources, characterize exposure patterns, and determine whether corrective action is warranted. Mitigation guidance is never issued without first understanding the electrical and RF environment of the property.
This measurement-first model helps prevent unnecessary interventions and supports practical, evidence-based decision making — so clients receive guidance that reflects their actual environment, not assumptions about it.
Independent and Product-Neutral
EMFGEO operates as an advisory firm.
EMFGEO operates as an advisory firm. Our recommendations are not contingent on the purchase of specific products, and clients are free to procure materials or services from vendors of their choosing.
When shielding or mitigation solutions are discussed, selections are based on performance characteristics, installation suitability, and compatibility with the electrical environment — not product affiliation. Advisory independence is what keeps our guidance objective and genuinely client-focused.
Least-Invasive Intervention Philosophy
When exposure reduction is appropriate, EMFGEO prioritizes the simplest effective strategies before recommending structural or material interventions. Our typical approach follows this order:
- Source reduction and behavioral changes
- Equipment relocation
- Wired connectivity alternatives
- Circuit-level improvements
- Targeted shielding where justified by measurement
This progression minimizes disruption to the structure while often achieving meaningful, measurable exposure reductionConservative Approach to GroundingGrounding conductive shielding materials can improve performance under the right electrical conditions. However, improper grounding may introduce unintended current pathways.

Structured Field Methodology
EMFGEO assessments follow standardized procedures designed to support repeatability and professional interpretation. While every property presents unique conditions, our evaluation process typically includes:
- Exterior source identification and perimeter survey
- Interior RF mapping
- Magnetic field evaluation
- Electric field testing
- Grounding environment screening where relevant
This structured approach promotes clarity and consistency in both findings and recommendations, regardless of property type or complexity
Grounding: A Conservative Approach
Grounding conductive shielding materials can improve performance under the right electrical conditions. However, improper grounding can introduce unintended current pathways and reduce effectiveness. For this reason, grounding decisions are made only after a thorough evaluation of the electrical environment.
When conditions cannot be confidently verified, non-grounded shielding strategies may be recommended as a precautionary measure. We would rather take the conservative path than risk an unintended consequence.
Informed by Precautionary Frameworks
Our interpretive guidance references precaution-oriented exposure frameworks used within building biology and environmental health disciplines — including the Building Biology Evaluation Guidelines (SBM-2024), Bau-Biologie principles, and the BioInitiative framework.
These references are offered to help clients make informed risk-management decisions at a level they’re comfortable with. EMFGEO recognizes that exposure research and regulatory standards continue to evolve. Our role is to deliver clear environmental observations — not medical determinations.
How We Communicate
Environmental consulting should inform, not alarm. Clients receive plain-language explanations of what was found, what it means in practical terms, and which actions — if any — matter most. Findings are prioritized so clients can make confident decisions without feeling overwhelmed.
Our objective is clarity. We believe the best outcome is a client who understands their environment and feels equipped to act on that knowledge.
