Mitigation Planning Guide – Shielded Room (RF Protection)

This guide is intended to help you understand the scope, materials, and potential costs associated with fully mitigating a room using shielding paint and related services and is designed as a planning tool only, to help project potential material quantities, associated services, and general cost ranges.

At EMFGEO, we prioritize practical and proportional solutions. Full-room shielding with conductive paint is considered a last-resort approach for reducing radio frequency (RF) exposure. Before recommending this method, we evaluate all alternative mitigation strategies, including source reduction, device management, and lower-impact shielding options.

However, in situations where RF exposure levels are elevated and cannot be adequately reduced through conventional means, a fully shielded room may be warranted. This approach requires:

• Careful planning and surface preparation
• Specialized shielding materials (paints, fabrics, window films, grounding components)
• Coordinated installation and quality control
• Post-installation verification testing

Important:
This is not a formal estimate or proposal. Final project pricing will be based on site-specific measurements, room dimensions, material selections, and installation requirements. Window shielding films, curtains, or floor shielding materials are not calculate in this tool at this time. That’s separate estimate that will need to be added to your project cost.

EMFGEO will specify all required materials and provide oversight or supervision of installation to ensure proper application and performance once a project is approved and underway.

Warning:
Grounding paths must be well planned and outlet grounds must be verified as correct with no wiring errors. Grounding to earth is preferred when possible. Persons with EMF sensitivities may have adverse reactions in a shielded environment, due to incorrect shielding application and or chemical sensitivities. Use of wireless devices (mobile data, WiFi, bluetooth) in a shielded room is ill advised, and defeats the purpose of the mitigation.
